Welcome to Kotoba Master! My name is Phyo Myanmar Kyaw, and I created this app to be a powerful and beautiful companion for your Japanese learning journey. Your trust and privacy are incredibly important to me. This policy explains what data the app handles—and what it doesn't—in simple, clear terms.

The Short Version (Summary)

Your personal learning data (progress, favorites, settings) is stored only on your device. I, the developer, have no access to this information.
The app uses anonymous analytics (Google Firebase) to help me find bugs, improve features, and understand how the app is used globally. This data is not linked to you personally.
To keep the core features free, the app is supported by ads (Google AdMob). You can limit ad tracking in your iOS settings.
The app does not collect personally identifiable information like your name, email, or exact location.

The Long Version (The Details)

Data Stored On Your Device

This is your learning data. It is created by you, stored securely on your iPhone or iPad, and is under your complete control. I cannot see, access, or transfer this information.

Learned Words: A list of the vocabulary words you have marked as "learned" for each chapter.
Favorite Words: A list of vocabulary words you have marked to create your own personalized study decks.
App Settings: Your preferences, such as your chosen theme (Light/Dark Mode) and content display options (e.g., showing or hiding Romaji).

Your Control: You can permanently delete all of this data at any time by using the "Clear All Data" function in the app's Settings screen.

Anonymous Analytics Data (Google Firebase)

To build the best learning tool possible, I need to understand how Kotoba Master is used. The app uses Google's Firebase Analytics service to collect anonymous and aggregated data. This helps me answer questions like, "Which JLPT level is most popular?" or "Is the Card View used more than the List View?". This information is never used to identify you personally.

The anonymous data collected includes:

An anonymous session identifier.
General usage events, like which screens are viewed or which features are used.
Aggregated country/region information (never a specific location).
General device information like the OS version and device type.

Advertising Data (Google AdMob)

To support the costs of development and keep Kotoba Master available to everyone, the app displays advertisements from Google AdMob. To show relevant ads, Google and its partners may collect data such as:

Your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
Your IP address.
Information about your interaction with the ads shown.

Your Control: You have control over personalized advertising. On your iOS device, you can go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and adjust your preferences for apps that request to track your activity.

Children's Privacy

Kotoba Master is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this app in a way that concerns you, please contact me immediately.

I may update this privacy policy in the future to reflect changes in the app or to comply with new regulations. If I do, I will post the new policy on this page and update the "Last Updated" date.
